Gyurza

Gyurza, the levantine adder, Macrovipera lebetina turanica, is hhe largest venomous snake of central Asia. In Uzbekistan, it inhabits the Nurata massive, where it lives on stony slopes along small creeks. It is massive, exceeding 1 meter total length and very beautiful.

To resemble its environment, which consists often of bluish grey slate, overgrown ny small round lichens of orange color, they adopt these colors to become invisible.

They are respected and feared.

Their potent venom is extracted and dried and used for medicinal and cosmetic purposes.
