Dendrelaphis andamanensis

The Andaman Green Bronzeback (Dendrelaphis andamanensis) is a non-venomous, arboreal snake endemic to the Andaman Islands. It belongs to the Colubridae family and is known for its slender body, bright green coloration, and black-edged scales.
This species has large eyes with round pupils, aiding in its daytime activity and excellent vision. It thrives in low bushes and trees, often seen basking in sunlight. Despite its shy nature, it can be fast-moving, diving between branches when disturbed.
The Andaman Green Bronzeback primarily feeds on frogs, geckos, lizards, and small birds. It occasionally enters wooden house roofs in search of prey. Though little is known about its breeding biology, juveniles are commonly observed in June, suggesting a seasonal reproductive cycle.
This species is endemic to the Andaman and Little Andaman Islands, making it an important part of the local ecosystem
